May is dedicated to our mothers whom we love very much. We honor Mary, the Mother of God and our heavenly mother during this month too. We will say a decade of the rosary every morning with our whole school for the intentions of our families and for peace in the world. As we meditate on the four mysteries of the rosary, the Blessed Mother teaches us about the life of Her Son, Jesus. We come to know and love God more by saying this beautiful prayer. In math, we will be adding 10 to a number on a number grid. This begins the development of mentally adding and subtracting with multiples of 10 in preparation for the addition and subtraction of two digit numbers. We will be making change and learning about fractions. We also will continue to memorize addition and subtraction facts. Use your fact triangles at home as well as computer games to help you master the facts. You can find more math games at: www.ictgames.com. In science, we will begin a unit on plants and their parts.
